Its urban layout is based on a steep area called ‘El Risco’, practically suspended over the river Ebro.
In 1631, Philip IV granted it independence from Laguardia, awarding it the title of "Villa".
Its name comes from a boat that crossed the river, linking the Sonsierra district of the Kingdom of Navarre with that of Castile. The river served as a natural moat and defence for the town.
Exploring its unique landscapes, formed by vineyards, taking a stroll, or practising water sports on the river Ebro, is an experience every visitor will enjoy.
A few kilometres away, on the Paseo de La Póveda route, you will discover beautiful landscapes full of vineyards and arrive at the recreational estate of the same name.
