Bodega El Fabulista
The El Fabulista winery is situated under the house where the fable writer Samaniego was born in the mansion of the same name in Laguardia / Biasteri. The winery, which has been specially refurbished to receive visitors, processes its wines according to traditional methods. The ground floor of the winery has two grape presses that produce 32,000 litres of wine per year.
At a depth of seven metres there are three parallel and interconnected vaults: one is used for processing, another for ageing and the third one is used for wine tasting.
Among the activities available, we can mention the Fabula cocktails offered in the cellars and dramatised visits based on erotic stories by Felix Mª de Samaniego (see dates and availability). In 2009 it received a special mention at the Basque Tourism Awards
