The Landscape

From a green spring to a golden, red autumn

The Landscape

The region of Rioja Alavesa boasts an area of 316 km2 and privileged red soils for growing grapes. Its vineyards paint the landscape a lush green shade in spring and reddish, golden in autumn, providing exceptional picture postcards scenes year after year. Unique landscapes hills and meadows of endless vines, dotted with olive trees, dolmens, prehistoric remains, medieval towns with their walled enclosures, stately manor houses, fruit crops, Gothic churches and countless wineries.

The modest nature of its size, the short distances between the fifteen municipalities that comprise it and its practical accesses, offer the perfect excuse to tour landscapes , from sunrise to sunset, where wine culture permeates into every corner. The region is bordered to the south by the Ebro River and to the north by the imposing ashen massif of the Sierra de Toloño.

Rioja Alavesa, with its unusual layout and the many activities on the Wine Route, is one of the most attractive wine regions on the international scene and an inexcusable destination for the traveller seeking flavours, landscapes and unique sensations. In Rioja Alavesa tourism, architecture, art and, of course, wine and gastronomy flow together.

Earth and wine are the main features of the character and landscapes of the region, where the wine culture is evident.
