Labastida was a walled town belong to the kingdom of Navarre until 1200, the year in which it came under the control of the crown of Castile. In the town, you can find numerous stately homes, mansions, ample entrance halls, beautiful religious buildings and the largest number of ashlar stone ancestral homes in the Rioja Alavesa. An interesting feature on the street called Calle Mayor is the house of Manuel Quintano, who was responsible for introducing the winemaking techniques of Bordeaux into Spain in the 18th-century.

The chapel of Holy Christ still preserves the appearance of a fortress, a magnificent watchtower.

The church of La Asunción contains an old organ built in 1670, which continues to delight music lovers who attend the concerts, together with a spectacular baroque altarpiece.

In the Plaza de la Paz, next to the town hall, you will find the Casa Palacio de los Salazar, today the House of Culture of Labastida. This Casa Palacio has belonged to a large number of different occupants in the past and, as its name suggests, it was the home of the Salazar family.
