This town was an important stopping place of the Way of St James and contains stately homes of great historical interest. In the Plaza de la Concepción you can see the town´s oldest buildings which are of medieval origin. At the entrance into the village, there is the Baroque mansion of the Marques del Puerto, the facade of which bears the inscription: “no fallara esta espada quebrar miles”.

The parish church of Santa María contains a Plateresque choir dating from the 16th century. The Baroque tower is considered to be one of the most beautiful and best designed towers in the whole of the Rioja Alavesa.

Almost everything in the Plaza Mayor is of interest, such the large 17th century mansion and Renaissance-style building.
